2011 6.7 4x4 HELP!!

So I recently learned with all the new snow in Michigan that my 4x4 system says its engaging on the dash but when I start sliding and need the front axel to actually start doing work it will throw an error code on the dash saying "check 4x4 system" and I have no idea where to start with attempting to fix this. Also, I read that some of the trucks have a manual hub lock and I have no idea if my truck has that. I have specifically a 2011 6.7 f250 xlt. The 4x4 is engaged with a dash *** and not a floor lever

Get codes first but here are a few things you can try.

When you turn the switch you should hear the transfer case engage, if you don't, you either have a fuse or the 4wd relays that are bad.

You may also check the wiring to the plug at the transfer case as something or someone may have cut it. Doesn't usually happen if you have skid plates.

This was a problem on the 99-04 trucks, but you can also check your vacuum hoses to make sure they're not cut or dry rotted.

They all have manual locking hubs. There are right where you'd expect to see them...on the hubs.

The hubs on my 2011 are selectable for Automatic, or Manual. I would try both settings, and just mess with it. If nothing changes, the advice above is definitely solid.

You probably have a problem with the vacuum hub locking system

your 4wd will probably still work - just go to each front wheel and turn the locking dial in the center of the wheel to the locking position.

that’s why the locking hubs are there, in case the vacuum system fails

quick search found this video that just shows you where it is

when it is really cold out it is best just to manually lock the hubs. Then when the front is needed, a flip of the switch engages the transfer case to power the front.

Suggest a brush up on the owners manual.

I’ve had 2 2011 and up trucks both vacuum hubs are shot and don’t work. I’ve had probably 8-10 99-06 trucks some of the vacuum hubs have worked and a few have not. My 2011 was the plastic line was brittle In the engine compartment I assume from heat. I’m assuming this is a common issue with the 11 and up trucks since both have had the issue but only a few of the 99-06 trucks.
