If yes, where is it located. Also, perhaps someone could confirm if this year was computer control capable. I don't see any multi pinned plug for a scanner anywhere. Thanks.
If California model, yes O2, either in the manifold or exhaust pipe close to the manifold.
No O2, if not California // No computer (ECA) if not California.
OP's "About Me" profile: ON CA (Ontario Canada).
If a truck was sold new in California, the DSO code stamped on the Warranty Plate (1961/79) or printed on the Certification Label (1980 thru today) is 71 (Los Angeles) or 72 (San Jose).
The photo is upside down, but the O2 sensor can be seen underneath the exhaust flange... it looks a little like a spark plug.
Thanks for that pic. Is that an 83 manifold? And if I have one on my mine, how likely is a faulty O2 sensor to create mild surging while driving? I imagine it's a bugger to swap out after all these years. Prolly heat welded in place.
I think it is pretty unlikely that your Canadian market truck was built to California specs, thus no O2 sensor. FWIW, I have an 83 parts truck with the 300 six and no O2 sensor.
As to mild surging, I would be looking for vacuum leaks.
