2019 F-250 XLT has what I consider pretty sorry radio reception. Stations local to the D/FW metromess fade in/out, sometime static is present, etc.
I did notice the the antenna's screw threads were not fully seated in the fender mount, so it is possible there is some light rust/corrosion in there if rain water ended up pooling in the void. Will try and clean that out today, just in case.
Just curious if this is occurring on others' 2017's on up.
I have reception issues on my ‘17. I just recently went back with xm because I got tired of clear one minute static the next. Stations that come in clear with all my other vehicles.
Mine is decent when I'm running the OEM antenna. I have an aftermarket antenna that is a few inches shorter so it doesn't hit my garage door frame. Those few inches make a difference once I get 30+ miles outside town.

Thanks all for the helpful responses.
I also want a shorter antenna for my garage as the stock one just drags along the header, door panels, etc., and makes one heck of a racket each time.
Will see if I can check the antenna connection at the back of the radio---good suggestion.
On my new 2019 F350 6.7L 4X4 XLT SCSB, I was looking it over after I got it home and the antenna wasn't screwed all the way on. It was about half way, which was just about hand tight. I used a crescent wrench to tighten it down the remainder of the way so that it was snug.
Made me think that either someone at the factory or maybe the dealer just put it on hand tight and that was good enough.
Speaking of smaller antenna's.... I as well have been looking around as I have the same issue with it banging along the garage door every time I pull in or out and it does make quite the racket.
Anyone have any luck on a specific brand or model? I did a search but didn't really find anything specific.

Yeesh.
Radios are "trimmed" for a specific antenna length, years ago the trimmer screw was right on the back of the radio, adjusted for maximum smoke on a weak station near 1400 kc. I'm sure they don't have those anymore. Maybe. I'm trying to remember, is the external whip antenna for AM only? I thought FM used a ferrite on the radio itself.

I have the 21" antenna from the same vendor. I would buy it again. Shorter antenna = less reception. I'm OK with that. It is what it is. I do not use Sirius/XM.
I keep the OEM antenna behind the back seat. If I really feel the need to pull in stations, I swap the antennas.
