Brake lights

I have no brake lights. I've got turn & tail but no brake. I found the emergency flasher switch in the glove box unplugged, plug in hanging down behind it. Thought to plug it back in & discovered there must be something missing from the back of this switch. My main question is does the wiring from the brake switch run through this e- switch & could I just use a jumper wire that would make the connection I need?

Have you checked the switch at the brake pedal? Here's a diagram for a '67. Dunno your truck's year.

I hate having to look in the profile for the basic info, but since I'm just joining the discussion I did look. He's got a '69. Much of the stuff for the '67 will be the same, but you never can tell since they were making all sorts of little changes here and there back then.
Welcome to FTE too by the way Logan!

While they are related, I don't believe that the brakes actually go through the hazard switch. They join up at the turn signal switch, which is the common denominator in most of our older rigs.
But like Coastal said, check the brake switch first. Yours likely uses the typical Ford-type oddity of a switch that is mounted to a stud on the brake pedal near the top. I say it's an oddity just because it's not the more common plunger style switch, but they work very well and can last a long time.
If you have a multi-meter you can test for power in, and power out when you push the pedal. Should not need the key ON since brake lights have power all the time.

And just to be sure, you're certain that the turn signals are in fact the bright filaments, and not the dim ones, correct? Just making sure because a bad ground can sometimes cause one circuit to hunt for a ground through the other, while the other one won't work on it's own. Giving false senses of security.
Otherwise you can be sure that the bulbs are good, because the turn signals work on the same filament as the brake lights and hazards on our vehicles.
If you turn on the headlight switch to the first notch to get the taillights to work and then try the blinkers, if they work as expected then your bulbs and grounds would seem to be good.

Good luck.

Paul

I also would start with the plunger switch down at the brake pedal. Mine is sticky sometimes and I hit the backside of the pedal with the top on my foot to make sure they are off. As far as the brake running through the turn signal, I never had both brake lights not work, only one. The pieces on the turn signal switch that returns your signal to center after making a turn are broken on my truck. So, the right brake light always works but the left only works when I lift the turn signal into the neutral position. Until I get the replacement part that is what I do. Thats why I wouldnt think it had to do with the turn signal switch in my limited experience.

1967 uses a one year only brake pedal and stop lamp switch. Not only is the switch different than 1968/72, it mounts completely different than 1968/72.

1968/72 switch (13480 in pic at lower left) threads into an adapter (13A629) that clips onto the brake pedal.

The switch can be adjusted, but if some of the prongs of the adapter snap off (somewhat common), the switch cannot be adjusted or will dangle from the brake pedal.
