2000 F250 CCSB, V10, 203k miles.
My idle is hanging or slow to return to idle which is 1000 rpm in P/N and 800 in gear. Approaching a stop sometimes it is noticeable since it takes a little more brake to stop and hold the truck. The idle hangs around 1200 rpm. I don't have any CEL's. I cleaned the MAF with the appropriate cleaner and cleaned the TB plate and pivots both in an out. The throttle cable is nice and smooth with, no noticeable effort to move it. It seems to occur a little more after a sustained running, like after a freeway ride or after towing. It runs and idles smoothly enough but this little deal is kind of annoying. It is not running away,, just slow to return to idle.
I am in the market for a new truck but I like to have my stuff working properly and don't want to pass a problem off to another owner.
So what else can I look for in my truck?
Thanks.
OK, so I ordered the IACV from Rock Auto and got it in 2 days. I really struggled to get just one of the bolts out so I just removed the throttle body. It was actually less hassle to remove the TB to replace the IACV. I noticed that it looked like blow by from the PVC was leaking so I replaced the TB/manifold gasket for $2. I think if I had to do it again I could replace the valve again, removing the TB in 45 minutes. Anyway, it all works well and my P/N idle actually dropped a little bit. The old IACV had some moderate carbon deposits so I can see where it was causing problems.
Thanks for the heads up on this fix.
