I have a 1987 f 250 40000 miles 460 truck, poor thing is sitting on the rubbers in the front. The leaf springs are so bad I want to replace them but with a bit of lift. Is there a common spring out there that will do the job or am I at the mercy of the lift companys?
Thanks, Brad
Contact Eaton Detroit Spring and see what they can do for you. I traded emails with the owner several years ago. He's into trucks & off-roading so I'd be very surprised if they couldn't help in some way, shape or form.
How much lift? Do you still have the factory front axle up front? If so you’ll have to be careful with how much height you gain because you’ll have a hell of a time getting it aligned.
I used the ATS 'stock rate, adds 1.5" ' spring,'
and it's been just about perfect. The truck sits as near to level
as I can tell unloaded, and has very free travel in front.
Now I need to replace the sliders in the rear packs and clean THEM up.
