2019 versus 2020 engine significant difference?

Putting aside the increased HP and torque, are the changes on the 2020 engine significant enough for the normal Joe? I know the pistons are going to be steel versus aluminum and the turbo is supposed to spool differently. What else am I missing?

The 10 speed transmission is more of the big change.

  • New 36,000-psi fuel injection system
  • Ford’s engineers took a run at the cylinder head, block, connecting rods, and bearings; each one beefed up to handle higher cylinder pressures and greater outputs.
  • The injectors spray up to eight times per stroke to control noise levels and optimize combustion

If you don't need the extra power try and find the best deal on a 2019 diesel. I just sold a 2018 diesel and honestly it had Way more power then I needed to tow my 12k 5th wheel. Only reason I sold the truck was the load carrying was not enough for my 5th wheel. Don't underestimate 2017-2019 6.7 and 6 speed, they are wonderful package. You can probably get a very good deal on a 2019 before the 2020 trucks hit the lots.

Looks like you might need to update your username. The 7.3 with the 4.30 gears should be awesome. I know it the 6.2 is!

Ordered - 2020 XLT F350 CCSB 4x4 7.3 10 Speed 4.30

I've actually owned a 17 and two 18s. I have a 2020 Tremor on order but afraid it won't fit in my garage due to the height increase and 35" tires. With that being said if I find out it won't fit it will be down to finding an inbound 2020 or leftover 2019.

If you have a 7ft garage door it may not. I wouldnt put my 2019 in a 7ft door, as they do hang down some below 7ft.

My 2019 F350 4wd on stock 18" tires and wheels clears my 7' garage door by less than an 1"

Roughly the same for the 3 I previously owned. Tremor- that might be a different story.

Ha ha! Same here. Mine dates to 2004. Haven't had the V10 or towed doubles since 2010.

Just about everything on the 6.7L is new. New pistons, rods, turbo, fuel pump & injectors, cylinder heads, bearings, cam, etc...

Does the 2020 still have a CP4.2?

Yes it will. It's also why they changed the front grille, for more airflow.
