Forward Collision Warning

For the last few days I have been getting a Collision Warning system fault when I remote start my truck in the morning. If I restart the truck it clears. I've done some searching of past threads and it seems it could be the cold causing it? If it doesn't heat up enough it will fault? The truck only has 1300 miles on it and there is no way I want to deal with this all winter for ever... so i guess a trip to the dealer is in the future.

At least if it doesn't have a code, Fordpass has the messages sent when it happened.

Anyone else having this type of problem recently? Most of the posts were on '17's.

I just had the same trouble come up last week when I performed a remote start. It hasn't happened again after numerous remote starts. If you take it in i hope they can tell you what the cause is. My truck is a 2017 350 Platinum with 23,000 miles.

Yes. I have a 2019 F350 Platinum (10,000 miles) and several times (14 times total since Nov 2018) I have had the same warning pop up after remote starting from FordPass.

I took it to the dealer last spring and they replaced the adaptive cruise control module (in the front of the truck) and it seemed to work until recently. I have gotten the warning twice in the past week. It seems like the cold has something to do with it since I’ve only had issues when it’s cold outside, but that’s just my experience. I’ll mention it again when I get my next oil change so they can check it out......again.

I'm guessing it's the cold as well, it's only happened 3 times to me so far, I haven't tried the Fordpass start since it started to happen, mine have all been with the fob. I don't drive it everyday but it has happened every time the temp has been under 35 degs and remote started. It didn't happen yesterday when I just jumped in and started it.

I got a collision warning fault on a recent long trip out west. I cleaned the bugs off of the radar unit, and all was well.

Move to Texas. It rarely gets below 35 here.

Dealer flashed something yesterday for this as they said there is a TSB. Time will tell if it works.

Are you guys that are having the problem in winter weather? Sometimes frost will temporarily disable the sensor.

Yes cold weather. No frost. Turn off and restart and problem is fixed.

I find that my collision avoidance will throw a warning if the front of the truck is too close to my closed garage door. A restart after I pull out and all is good.
