2010 F-150 A/C COMPRESSOR IS ALWAYS ON
2010 F-150 A/C COMPRESSOR IS ALWAYS ON
MY SON HAS A 2010 F-150 FX4 4X4 AND NO MATTER WHERE THE SWITCH IS SET, THE A/C COMPRESSOR STAYS ON. IF IT IS IN THE OFF POSITION, THE COMPRESSOR GOES OFF. HOWEVER, IF THE FLOOR IS ON OR THE FACE VENT IS ON, HEAT IS ON DEFROST OR ANY COMBO, THE COMPRESSOR IS RUNNING. IT CYCLES LIKE IT SHOULD BUT ALL THE TIME? iS THAT A SENSOR OR THE SWITCH? THE TEMP CONTROL ACUATOR WAS JUST REPLACED BECAUSE HE HAD NO HEAT. IT DID HTIS BEFORE HE CHANGED THE ACTUATOR AND NOW HE CAN GET HEAT AND A/C BUT THE COMPRESSOR IS ALWAYS RUNNING. ANY IDEAS?

I believe it's also off when in straight floor or vent modes (no mixing.)
NO, IT ONLY SHUTS OFF WHEN THE SWITCH IS OFF. HE JUST REPLACED THE ACTUATOR(THE ONE BEHIND THE RADIO) BECAUSE HE HAD NO HEAT. HE NOW HAS HEAT AND A/C, BUT THE COMPRESSOR RUNS ALL THE TIME. IS THERE A RELAY THAT COULD GO BAD OR THE SWITCH PANAL OR MAYBE A DIFFERENT ACTUATOR. WE JUST DON'T WANT TO BURN THE COMPRESSOR UP BY HAVING IT RUN ALL THE TIME. ANY THOUGHTS?
unless I MISSED SOMETHING, THE COMPRESSOR SHOULD RUN IN A/C, DEFROST AND DEFROST/FLOOR MODE. THAT IS THE WAY ALL OF THE OTHER FORDS I HAVE WORK. STRAIGHT FLOOR HEAT = NO COMPRESSOR, PANAEL HEAT OR VENT =NO COMPRESSOR. I KNOW THINGS AREN'T AS THEY USED TO BE WHERE IF YOU PUSH THE A/C BUTTON, THE COMPRESSOR COMES ON AND IT MAKES COLD AIR. I KNOW THERE ARE ALL KINDS OF RELAYS AND RESISTOR SWITCHES ETC... THAT IS WHY I'M ASKING IF ANYONE HAS HAD THIS ISSUE AND WHAT THEY FOUND. MOST HAVE THE ISSUE WHEN THE ACUTUATOR BEHIND THE RADIO GOES BAD HAVE THE HEAT IS ALWAY ON. THIS TRUCK THE A/C AMND COLD AIR WAS ALWAYS ON. (THERE IS SOME SORT OF SLIDE INSIDE THE ACTUATOR THATGETS STUCK. WE CHANGED THE ACTUATOR AND NOW HAVE HEAT, BUT THE A/C COMPRESSOR ONLY TURNS OFF IN THE OFF POSITION.
IF IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE ON ALL OF THE TIME, THEN FORD MUST HAVE CHANGE IT UP IN 2010 BECAUSE WE HAVE A 10 RANGER, 10 EXPLORER, 03 F-150, 13 F-150. ALL OF THESE ARE AS STATED ABOVE, WHERE THE VENT, PANEL AND FLOOR HEAT DO NOT RUN THE COMPRESSOR.
