Fender Welt, What material and why?

I see that welting is available in rubber, vinyl, and other material. What works best for our trucks? I'm referring to ease of installation and stuff that lasts. I would not be painting it.
Thank you
Bob

I used the rubber version from Carpenter. No issues or breakdown in six years.

For those of you using the Fender Welt, are you painting the exposed Welt body color....or leaving it as is? Is black the most common color?
Thanks.

I used the vinyl covered cloth on the rear fenders and at both ends of the running boards. With a dark colored truck and black running boards, the black bead doesn't stand out.

What year truck, Bob,?

I used black vinyl as original, of course, on my 54 in 1999. Still looks good on a green truck.

Thank you for the feedback. Looks like black is the most common color. I guess the black will compliment an Aquatone Blue truck that has black bumpers and black running boards.
