Need new PCM

I just swapped mine a few months ago in my '93 F-150. I bought a refurbished PCM from o'reilly's auto parts. I had to pay in advance and it took about a week for the unit to get shipped to my local shop. It was about $100 or so.
It's the first time I've done this, so maybe there are better routes to getting a PCM.

I usually get the numbers off the old one and start calling the salvages. Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market is another source.

There are no new PCMs. If you went to Ford they would sell you a reconditioned Cardone unit. I have posted this before but I would rather get mine locally in case I need to exchange it. I don't want to send mine somewhere and wait who knows how long. I have bought two Cardone units for two of my trucks and they have worked perfect. I got them from O'rileys with a one year warranty. I can get a replacement here in Houston at my local O'riley in about 4 hours. All these parts today are hit and miss and this is just my experience. As wtroger said above you need the numbers off you old computer and you will need to give them the old computer for core credit if you choose. Sandy

Yes, it has worked just fine. My truck hit a rough patch with a few problems and the codes I got displayed a few issues, one of which was the PCM. I took care of the other problems, but wasn't able to get it to start until I swapped out the PCM with the one I ordered through the auto parts store.

I had to replace mine (1990 F250 302 5 speed) and oreilly had one that was perfect for mine, at only about $103. its been about 3 months and its still working perfect with no issues.
