2001 f350 7.3, I’m having problems with my snap on Solis edge not connecting to any of the modules except the pcm and pats system. No communication with abs, airbag, gem. I have checked the voltage and ground at all the pins with my meter and compared to what I’ve found online and also testing 2 other of my super duties and it seems off. Pin #7 is 5v with key off and 7.90v with key on. Pin 2 reads 180ohms key on or off. Pin 4 and 5 0ohm key on or off. Pin 16 battery voltage key on or off. Pin 10 is 0v key off and 5v key on. Any help or direction you could send me in would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for any and all help!!
I'm not familiar with the Snap On Solis Edge you re using. Quite often you need to make sure the system is setup for J1850 data. The PCM and PATS mean it is communicating, As far as Airbag, ABS and GEM, it sounds like a setup issue. The GEM may not communicate, but it's been awhile since I have tried. Mine is an '02 model, so different configuration.
My scanner worked on this super duty and the 8 others that I own. It only stopped connecting after I found out that the headlight wires in the dash harness were melted and I pulled the dash and changed the entire dash harness. The only light on is the abs, everything else on the truck works fine. The abs module does activate when you turn the key on. I started un plugging the individual modules and re testing. When I un plugged the abs, the pin 7 voltage went up to 7.4v key off and 9.2v key on. I then un plugged the air bag module and checked again and it went up again to 9.3v key off and 10.5v key on. Then I un plugged the gem module and re tested again and then the pin was dead. Also I tried to re connect my scan tool after I un plugged each module and still no communication.
Whenever something no longer works after changing or fitting new parts, 99%of the time it's as a result of either the work that has been done or something in the immediate vicinity of the work done. Double check everything you have done & any other connections that may have got pulled/moved or otherwise interfered with during the process. Check all earth's too.
It is also possible that the previous damage to the loom may have caused a voltage spike which is never good for electronics.
If this doesn't help, at least you have a bump to the top!
