9” Backing Plates
I usually hang out in the 48-56 site but have a question that you guys may be able to help with. My 53 & 56 both have 1972 9” rear ends in them. While “fixing” one of them out of the vehicle it was dropped and bent both backing plates. I’ve been trying to find replacements but am coming up with zilch. The Bendix part numbers are stamped into the plates 316279-R & 316278-L. Has anyone got a source for new replacements? The only thing I’ve found close is a Currie complete backing plate that is complete with shoes, springs and a healthy price tag. Thanks for any help you might have.

It's been awhile but I believe it has more to do with the rear brake shoe size and from there determine if you have the small bearing axle flange pattern or the large bearing pattern. Meaning it could be from a car or a truck. I know it's not much help but it could be useful information to know or help others.
