I have been searching trying to find someone that sells this connector. Mine no longer bolts together and is being held in place by a wire tie. I saw that one place used to sell the complete replacement but no longer has them.
Yes, I did look through the Ford Connector Catalog in the Tech Folder but didn't see it labeled plain enough for me to identify it. My schematic says it is C138F and C138M but also 12A581 appears.
C138F and C138M are just the identifiers for the female and male halves of the connector in the wiring diagrams. 12A581 refers to the part number for the wire harness. For example, the engine bay side of the wire harness has part number 1C3T-12A581-P260F.
If the original connector is no longer made, it might be a good opportunity to replace it with something more robust like this:
Ford used these on many models. Check out your local junkyards, they have plenty of them. You can easily depin and repin them with your wires. I have made a couple sets of test tools using this method. Most yards only charge $10 for the parts.
Do you know if these are year specific? Will 99-03 all work?
Many years will work. I would stick with looking at the similar years, but trucks, cars and expeditions all used this connector. They may be in slightly different locations, but are common.
