Hello all, just to clarify. The current engine in my truck is a Y block with a front sump/pickup. They Y block has the standard front motor mount under the dampener and then the two on the side back by the tranny. I am contemplating changing out the Y block for a small block Ford (most likely a crate motor) and I understand I will have to change the motor mounts. I believe I will also need a tranny cross member to go from the current 4 speed manual "truck tranny" to either a C4 or C6. Most information I have been able to find/research indicates that I when get a small block Ford motor, I need to get a rear sump/pickup. I am not in any hurry at all and just starting my research, but this is one of the things I want to make sure of at this point. Thanks.
With the stock suspension a front sump would make contact with the solid axle and why the sbc was favored before rear sump pans could be had for the Ford motors..
