I currently own a 2018 F-250 without commercial plates. This gives me access to parkways in the area that I live (Long Island, NY). However, I have a horse trailer and need to transport some horses off of Long Island. Is there a good gps app or device that would provide directions that exclude roads only open to passenger vehicles?
I like TruckMap...when pulling ponies through metro areas, it has been very good at picking the right course. I've run it against Google/Apple/Waze on a separate device, definitely an improvement for anyone with a load.
I don't know about 'Commercial' restrictions, but I run the CoPilot GPS app on my phone. It's RV option allows me to enter the Height/Length and routes me around those restrictions. Handles Propane restricted tunnels as well. There's a Trucker option with even more features, but I can't speak to those, I've only used the RV one.
Thank you for all the replies. I searched for truck app and have seemed to find a viable solution.
So if I owned a f-3/450 drw and am required to have commercial plates, basically the nav in the truck is useless? It seems that ford should include a 'truck' option in the nav software that the user could toggle.
