What is this part?

My vehicle is a 1990 E350 EFI 460 van (RV). It has 1 fuel tank.

I think this might be a reservoir of some kind? I'm considering replacing it given the high temperature shutdown problems I have been having.

Can anyone tell me the part number?

My VIN:
1FDKE30G0LHB86066

My Calibration Code:

Fuel reservoir.

I canʻt see how this will prevent shut down issues. Have you any other issues or codes?

What is the purpose of that, being a fuel injection system with high pressure pump?

That device looks quite a bit like a fuel filter used on a 1988 E150 with in-line 6 cylinder I had some time ago. It's a single use item, can't be cleaned or otherwise serviced.

It is not a fuel filter, it is a fuel reservoir. Evidently its function is to provide a bit of fuel in case the fuel in the tank sloshes and the in-tank pump can't pick up any fuel for a bit. Evidently on dual-tank vehicles this also functions as the device that switches the tanks. But on single-tank units it is just a reservoir.

Fuel reservoir.

You can see what is going on with my vehicle here:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...hot-again.html

Basically at this point my entire fuel system is suspect, as far as I'm concerned.

I believe this may be the item:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAND-NEW-O...0/232121064616

They claim part number:

FOTZ9K044A

Can anyone confirm fitment for 1990 E350 EFI 460 engine?

Can you post the parts you have replaced so far in regards to the fuel system?

FOTZ-9K044-A (replaced E7TZ-9K044-A) .. Fuel Reservoir - Does not have or use filter / Marked: E7TA-9K044-AA or FOUA-AA / Obsolete

1987/90 E150/350, F150/350, Bronco, Ranger & Bronco II with EFI except 1989/90 F150/350 Regular Cab 133" wheelbase with E4OD

This reservoir has nothing to do with switching the tanks.

Thanks Bill!

About 5 years ago the in-tank fuel pump burned up. Just prior to this (probably as the pump was going bad) the fuel pump relay burned up. When the relay burned up, it also took out the Inertia Switch. Shortly after this the pump itself burned up. When it was removed from the tank, it had literally welded/melted metal parts of the pump.

It has been replaced with an Airtex pump (E2060S).

You can see my saga of tracking fuel pressure here:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...gulator-2.html

With the new regulator, it's running 30 PSI at idle, 38 with the vacuum line removed. This is lower than it was with the factory regulator, but still within spec, though at the low end of spec.
