windshield mirror fastening

My windshield mirror broke off the glass. On my earlier trucks, the button in the mirrror base that is super glued to the glass is held in place by a set screw. On my 01, there is no obvious fastener, except the overlapping plastic sides. I don't want to try and pop it out, breaking the mirror base. How's it come off in order to be glued back on. Thanks guys. Larry

It just slides out. My 2001 & 2003 did. Had the same thing happen to mine. Had to bump it down and it fell out. Use the mirror glue from any auto parts store. Regular glue will not hold. Make sure when putting it back on that the wider side is at the bottom as the mirror slides from the top down. I hope that helps.
