Mirror glass?

Hey all, my 2001 f-250 is missing the top big section of glass on my driver side mirror ( I just bought the truck). I've been trying to figure out what my options are. I called the dealership and they quoted me $185 for a whole new mirror or $48 for the glass. But, they said if the clips are bad then you will have to buy a new mirror anyway. Any ideas where can I find the glass other than a salvage yard for cheaper? How do I determine if the clips are bad. I admit these may be noob questions but, the truck is not with me. I have it stored at my parents house(an hour away) till I get a few things fixed on it.

Thanks,

Kyle

Have you checked with your local glass shop? My brother works at one and they replace mirror glass. Another option is an aftermarket replacement mirror from RockAuto. They have a non-heated power mirror for only $83.99 if that is what you have.

I'll check with a glass shop I didn't think about them.

Thanks,

Kyle
