I need to do something about my ghetto transmission tunnel. I have a nv4500 in place of a np435. The top of my tunnels cut back because the 4500’s shift tower is about 6-8 inches farther back.
Ive got a piece of plate with a box on top kinda covering now but I need a airtight solution for winter. My shifter is also 1.25” or so rod and I’d like to go back to the original thin style.
Could anybody tell me the diameter of the original no435 shifter and what the original boot looks like?
Assuming I can get a replacement for the original. I figure I should figure out what boot I’m gonna use and work my way down. Gonna try to account for the curve of the top of the tunnel.
I have no idea what criteria was used for changes, but we call out two sizes for them. One was 5/8" and the other 11/16" and we need that measurement for ordering our Gear Banger shifter for proper fit. (https://www.wildhorses4x4.com/produc...d_Transmission)
That little bit of difference may not make any difference in what the boot needs because of the stretch. But for the precisely fitted clamps it's important information.
So I would need the number 11 boot, and the trim ring to hold it down. Great. Thank you guys very much. I can work with 5/8. My fat shifter is very 80’s-90’s to me.
Will need to order one and build my extended plate from there.
where does the ring go? They want $30 for it and the base of the boot isn’t round, so it doesn’t seem like it goes there.
The boot is held down by s/m screws. NOT the chrome ring. I have seen the boot put ON TOP of carpet and or vinyl floor. That always cracks me up to see a 10K truck on the web for sale with the boot on top of the new carpet and NO ring. The trim ring is to make for a cleaner edge, if you install the boot correctly. Here is what I mean....the boot is suppose to go UNDER the carpet.
