this combo ?

https://www.koppymotors.com/auto/use...e-mn/38856963/

What MPG @ 55-60 MPH do you think this V-10 combo would get? What do you think of the package price on this rig? Fair deal or a bit spendy?
I have a mental block about owning anything that gets less than 10 MPG .
I couldn't go 7 MPG but I could live with 10.
But I could spend another $30K on a diesel to get 15 MPG and that wouldn't bother me.
You could buy a swimming pool full of gas for the price difference.
Thanks for looking.

My thought is first of all the price is not bad and considering that is just the asking price, I am guessing you can get it for somewhere in the 20s. Gasser duallies are a harder sell as most folks are thinking diesel at that point, so that works to your advantage. We had V-10s in two B+ motorhomes and it was a beast with zero problems.

Of course the real issue here is how much is this combo worth to you, provided you have gone through it and everything is in good working order. If you just gotta have mileage, the decision is a no brainer, walk away and don't look back. Buying something you don't really want based on price is always a mistake in my book. I don't think the mileage will be as low as 7, however 10 might be on the edge. We get 11.2 with our 6.2 combo and a shorter lighter camper, The one you are looking at will probably have a bit more wind resistance, but you plan on running a bit slower so maybe a wash.

Did you drive it? Get a Carfax? Check the NADA guides for pricing? Do you like it? Can you live with 10 mpg? If this is a first truck camper purchase do you know enough to assess its condition? I'm not going to refight the gas versus diesel war, there are good arguments for both. You are the one with the checkbook and there is always "another good deal"!

Check this out and arm yourself with info for bargaining.

Looks like the private party listing before the dealership ended up with it - is this a consignment or does the lot now "own" it? It seems to be the same rig and set up. I do not believe the Host Yellowstone is still in production. Also be aware that the base weight listed in the add is just that, a base weight and is not reflective of what you are looking at. The weight of that unit as equipped is in the neighborhood of 3754 lbs. I'm not sure if Host includes the weight of full water tanks (8lbs p/gal) in that figure.

That weight, then additional weight for food, water and gear, will have a definite negative effect on your MPG. I really know nothing about this engine so I'm not even going to guess. However, the RV Trader add has a number for the seller and it might be an avenue to contact the previous owner and get additional info, such as the MPG's they experienced.

Look closely, isn't that the same picture both in the OP's link and on RV Trader, just not a close-up in the one picture? Wouldn't be the first time a dealer listed as a private party. Some feel it attracts more interest.

Going by NADA pricing the camper was listed in RV Trader at below market value which is even more interesting. Obviously there are multiple possibilities one of which is this might actually represent a good buy for someone. The drivetrain for the truck will be older technology, although I was a strong v-10 fan myself. For more information on the truck I would visit the FTE forum that covers the V-10.

I think it is an incredible advantage, if interested, to be negotiating on something that did not sell in the past. I am thinking winter is coming and someone wants to move this camper/combo before the flakes fly.

I messaged the RV ad and the owner of the used car lot answered me. He seemd like an OK guy, no hard sell .
I've decided it's not for me, I think you are right, there is potential there for someone getting a good deal.
Thanks!
