Have a 87 ford e350 7.5 FI duel tank.. has brand new jasper motor, was haveing some sort of back pressure in the front tank. To the point it was pushing itself out on the filler neck. , anyways kept on driving each time i turned off the motor it got harder to start. To the point it would start back up.
....all senors are new on motlr..new fuel selector valve. Im not getting power to the pumps.....ive changed the relays already. Not sure what to do... dizzy is new but not the grey box mounted to it. ..
Need advice on what to test...
Oooo. I dont have a check engine light when i turn the key forward.. i know the light works.. i thougjt it was suppose to turn on when key was foward.
Find the EEC test connector under the hood(drivers side inner fender) and put a jumper from the fuel pump relay connector to ground, this will make the pumps run continuously when the key is in the run position. Now you can test for power at all 3 pumps, I suspect the frame mounted pump may be your problem.
That filler neck issue is probably your tank selector switch right before the rail pump. Why do you think the rail pump is what's keeping power from the tank pumps? Unless its blowing a fuse or the relay is bad I don't think it should affect it. On my '88 E-250 I ended up disconnecting my side tank and just straight piping the rear tank (is bigger 20 gal.). That switch mechanism is a bit expensive and hard to find.
You will only get the pumps to turn on momentarily when you first turn on the key. Conan gave you the info to test if they are getting power. Good luck.
