I don't know that it was under the hood — I rec'd all the wiring harnesses from a '95 just dumped in a large box! Last year I spent a bunch of time culling diagrams to figure out what is what, and at some point I labeled this for under hood light… but now that everything is wired up (in my '52) I see that both pins are ground.
My AllData subscription expired, so no more access to diagrams. Not a huge deal, as I can pull power for light from somewhere else easily enough, was just hoping someone might recognize the connector.
On my '95 F150 with a 302 I can confirm that that connector matches the under hood lamp connector. On mine it is black and has the same wire colors. One side of the connector is attached to about three feet of wire that leads to the lamp, and the other connector is coming out of a larger bundle about six inches from the wiper motor along the top of the fire wall. Hope that helps.
In my 89 F250 I have a plug like that near that battery. It is a body ground between battery and body. I'll try to look tonight at the wire colors. I know its two wire. One end goes to a bolt on the core support other to the battery.
