I have a 79 f150 4x4 that came with a 300ci 6 cyl. and a D18 transmission . It is my understanding that a 351ci or 400 ci engine will bolt up directly to the bell housing. Am I correct in assuming this swap?

Plus, the newer 302, 351w blocks are roller capable so you can use a wide variety of roller cams. Performance parts are relatively inexpensive and plentiful.
I have a modern roller block bored and stroked to a 347 in my LWB 73. Works. great. Unfortunately I still have some wiring upgrades to do since most of its over 40 yrs old. lol
You will need to move your engine perches toward the firewall. The mounting holes should be in frame/cross member. You may need to change your radiator, depending on where the inlet/outlets are. Alternator, starter, p/s pump, throttle linkage, distributor, etc. will need to be changed.
And you need a 4x4 oil pan. Anyone, correct me if I’m wrong, a fox body oil pan will work if one cannot be located. Been a few years but i seem to recall that i had to use one for my Bronco2 v8 build.
