so i'm thinking about putting a shift kit in the ole c6, see sig for specs on truck...because i feel like its still slipping alittle, but i due only have 3.54's in the axles either way i want it quick and to hook up better. and new gears are on the way too so calm down about that
anyway i was wondering if anybody has had any experience with a full manual kit offroad? probably the most i'll do it straight through mud passes or up sand dunes and the occasional fartin' around at the camp site type stuff.
would it be a huge difference over just a regular shift kit, (obviously i shift myself i know that) and how is it to drive on the road with a ractheting shifter lets say like the b&m quarter stick?
Although they are allot of fun, most guys who put in the full manual kits get tired of always having to shift manually, especially on road. Most wish they'd stuck with the middle stage. It doesn't bother me, personally, but then you also have to consider that a C-6 soaks up @ 75 horse and if thats the route you want to go an actual stick would give you easy power. They do work good with a B&M slapstick or the equivalent. For a solid launch with an auto you really need to consider your torque converter too....a stock rating won't help you much no matter what you do to your tranny. I have a 2500rpm stall rated one and it works well.
plus i was kinda hoping to get away with moser shafted 44/9" axle combo with 39.5 boggers so the i was hoping the auto wouldn't pop ujoints every other pass.....plus power launch in sand/mud while anbriated isn't the easiest.
is there any other advantage to a high stall converter other than the obvious launching higher in the power band?
If you have just a 1500 stall your probably fine. If you don't have a tranny temp gauge put one in. If it runs warm then put on an additional cooler and fan. I had to with my high stall, but I always think its a good bet anyways since heat is the #1 destroyer of autos.
Full manual, or reverse manual no prob..........had them for years, i'd be more concerned about your axles with 40's.........lots of other upgrades besides shafs to worry about.........
