Hi, I have a 2012 Expedition with the liftgate lift not working anymore and looking for some help.
All buttons (dash, trunk and remote) will unlock the liftgate only but not lift or down.
It started when I hit something backing up and all I hit was my left tail light. All that broke was the snap/screw taps and so the unit was dangling on the wires.
Even since the liftgate stop working automatically.
If I press any button the lock un-locks but further not even a beeping sound.
so far I did:
Checked in the system if the power lift was enabled.
Checked fuses 14, 17 & 27.
Reset the system by disconnect the battery for over 20 seconds, closed the door and pressed the button.
Removed the motor and when connected to 12v the motor seems to work.
Replaced the lift module but after resetting nothing changed.
It seems like the motor is not doing anything not even the beeping sound. All I hear is the unlocking of the door lock (and a few seconds later it locks).
When I removed the motor and applied 12v it was turning smooth.
There was nothing damaged on the bodywork.
Took a visit to the Ford dealer and they tested the car.
They told us that the problem came from the tailgate latch and they could repair it for $600.
I ordered an used one on-line and replaced it.($150)
And surprise, surprise the auto lift started working again.
It acted a little weird going up but all I had to do was resetting the lift by taking the power off the system for a few seconds and preforming a manually lift/closing.
