My 07 F150 had a spring in the tailgate that made lifting and closing the gate really easy. The 92 F250 doesn't have this lift assist. Has anyone installed a lift assist in a older truck to make closing the gate easier? I am simply not as strong as I once was and closing this heavy *** gate is hard. Thanks.
If you cant close the tailgate then perhaps you shouldn't have a truck.
After all if you cant lift the gate, then how do you lift anything not the bed?
The Broncos have a torsion bar that makes closing the tailgate quite easier, but they tend to rust out eventually and can break the tailgate glass when they become free...
Bradly, google Hopkins Easy Lift Tailgate assist. Then read the testimonials from owners. There are many of us (seniors and disabled vet's) that need minor tweaks so that we can use and enjoy our trucks. I fit in both category's and have owned and driven fords for over 60 years.
Lol you've been here for 10 years too, "greenhorn", not like you're a new user neither. William seems to be the right person to advice on this, check his info out.

Thanks to you also William, 60 years driving Fords and 16 years on FTE!

Enough with the name calling.
I have seen the easy lifts and we have discussed this already in another thread.
Just to close this out. I installed the Hopkins Easy lift on my truck today. What a difference it makes. Closing that heavy gate is a breeze now. Thanks to all that replied, I've enjoyed the conversation.
