What’s up ford fam. So I noticed my check engine light was on while I was driving home. Normal traffic clear day nothing out the ordinary. I also noticed my trans temp was only around 160 when I got home. After driving home for about 25 minutes. I have a 2016 F- 250 super duty diesel with 89k on it. Does any think the check engine light coming on and the low trans temp are related? And if not what could be some common problems?
You can go to https://owner.ford.com and enter your VIN to see if you have any recalls for the DEF Heater. My truck isn't included in any recalls and my build date is 01/27/16
it takes way more time for the trans to come up to temp. My 15 takes more than 20 miles when not towing. My trans temp hovers around 190 to the same as oil temp. I don't worry about temps to much. Truck has so many safeguards built in that isn't a problem. If you don't have a check engine light than truck is fine. Some of the things guys worry about makes me wonder why they got a diesel in the first place. Sure there were some issues with the early 6.7's but most if not all have been addressed in the 15MY.
My 16 is the same as Bone's. At one point there is 60 to 70 degree difference between the engine oil and trans fluid. Sometimes my trans is not all the way up to temp after I get home or work. One way is 18 miles.
So just an update. I took my 2015 250 super duty. Dealership said I needed to replace my reductant heater and it wasn’t covered. I’m at 87k.i checked on a customer satisfaction program 18m01 but my truck didn’t qualify. Still don’t know why it didn’t but I even called ford. Thanks to all for the help and advice.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the reductant heater part of the emissions? Shouldn't that be covered under the 5 year / 100,000 mile warranty?
