My 01 super dutys A/C is acting up. I am no mechanic and A/C is definitely not in my wheel house. The compressor clutch is kicking off and not re-engaging until you turn it off for a minute or so. So here is the odd part, if you turn it to full cool, max A/C and full fan speed, it works fine for hundreds of miles. If you say man I am cold and bump the fan back one notch, the compressor kicks off and stays off. If you leave the fan speed at full blast it works great but touch the fan speed just once and the compressor kicks off immediately. I tried to charge it up but it wouldn't accept any refrigerant. Do I need to have it vacuumed down and recharged or is this an electrical sensor type issue.
Thank you for any insight
Sounds like a faulty low pressure switch located in the dryer/accumulator. I had one fail with the same symptoms. A couple of taps on the switch with a screwdriver handle would get the compressor going again until I replaced it.

On two of my trucks, it was actually the wiring connector coming from compressor to switch.... you could move the wires and compressor would come on. I think it was caused as I layed across the wiring when working on other issues
