I think I’ve outgrown my last thread.... and I’m starting to think this is a horrible idea...
1986 f-350 460 4x4 Factory air conditioning
I’ve got two last things I need to wrap up before I get new lines made...
This was the evaporator core box, there’s some prongs unplugged there! But I believe the wiring and plugs are still intact. What needs to be plugged in? Cracked open the box to find that it’s missing all together! And where would the compressor switch be routed? In the distributor harness? Anyone have an idea of where it would be generally located?
The diagram below shows the wires going to the compressor clutch are black/yellow and black. That thing on the side of the box is the resistor assembly for the speed control of the blower. It's shown in the diagram below also.
The compressor wire comes from the other side on my 81
I know the AC harness is its own harness and passes thru the firewall under the other harness.

Ah! So same general area as all the other connectors, and it’s possibly got its own harness. I’ll look through and see if I can find any cut/unplugged/unused wires in that area tonight. Is that going to be single wire to the plug or 2 wire with ground?
Sweet deal, I’ll look into it! Was there a pigtail right after the firewall in the engine bay or was it straight through the whole way?
What I recall was one solid run between the pressure switch and compressor clutch. My 80 appears to ground the clutch through the block, but this harness appears to have a separate ground that was plugged in near the firewall.

IIRC 1 harness from switch, you unplug a wire on the main harness and plug the ACCOUNT harness in between, and it runs out to the engine bay.

my 81 also uses 1 wire for the clutch but I don't remember a ground wire to fire wall, will look next time I am under the hood.
Newer year trucks think use 2 wires to the clutch.

I don't think your '81 will have it either, I was saying that the '84 I took the harness from had two wires. I only used the yellow/black to make my jumper from the pressure switch to my A/C clutch.
Firewall wire, at least this one is kinda the right color, heavy gauge wire... Module box plugs, no stray wires Distributor harness, only cut wire is the radio resistor wire.
Those are all the wires, plugs, and loose ends on the whole drivers side of the engine bay. Anything look similar to the one I need? That single large gauge kinda fits the bill, it’s in its own insulation...
It's not going to be a thick wire like that. It will be smaller, and it will be two wires together, the black and the black/yellow. They will go to a connector that is more rectangle in shape.
