Is this the truck you want the VIN decoded for? The VIN decodes to an LN600, so I would assume that's what the rolling chassis is, since the body was installed after the fact.
Usually when you see something like this, it began as an E350 (1 ton Econoline) rolling chassis, but the LN600 has a much larger GVWR

Yes sir, this is the truck. And yes it is a rather large parcel van. I've never worked on a ford this large..I did get it running there are no brakes except parking brake. Carb had 2 chokes? and master cylinder was dry but it looks like brakes have an assist by using auto transmission fluid?
All aluminum body..28ft long, 10 ft tall from ground, 8 ft wide. .
I'm just finding this old post- as I was searching for "79 LN600" because that's the truck I am trying to restore right now. The VIN on this truck is amazingly similar to mine, though mine was not a special order with this kind of body style.
I think the "B" decode above is incorrect for a '79- if it's a V8 and gas, then I'm guessing it might be like mine, and is probably the 6.1L 370 as noted below. This is the engine in mine, as can be seen on the engine side plate (pic of my engine and VIN below)
