Wonder if the CP4 pump issues ford has been having is making a difference in what folks buy in the diesel line.. Ram when to CP4 for 2019 and 2020 then for 2021 switched back to CP3 type pump..

I am sure there are many many folks that have a 6.7L ford and never have a problem. but there are many that do have a problem and ford denies the warranty resulting in a sometime 10K bill.. thats a fricken lot to pay to get a 2-5 yr old truck repaired still owning 40 or 50 k still.. plus the ram interiors are NICE..

The GM 1500s were new earlier this year with no significant changes for 2020.

HD trucks may be new(er) for 2020, but they are not the volume leaders.

Ram sales are helped by continuing to sell the older model at "modest" prices.

Partially a reputation issue. Cummins probably did not want the CP4 issues hurting their name with their other clients (manufacturers), and warranty claims went against them as much as FCA/Stellantis. Ford likely feels sheer volume will work out the kinks with the 4... they may or may not be right.

Saw the title of the thread and fully expected to read a tale of a family walking across a 12 mile bridge 6 miles out because their Dodge truck broke down. Then I remembered I was just reminiscing about my own experience back in the early 80's.

So 40 years ago, your Dodge broke down and so you have never owned a Dodge since then?

Way to hold a grudge!

Au contraire. I considered it a one off freak situation and bought another Dodge truck to replace it. That !#$%!#$%^ left me walking as well. "Get me once, shame on you" "get me twice, shame on me" NOMOREMOPAR

It really is disappointing because Dodge has always had the best looking body styles imho. I would love to slide into another but I'm skeered of walking at my age.

OK, so what? 30-35 years ago your second Dodge died and because of that, you refuse to buy another?

The people who designed and built your old Dodge are looooooong dead or retired.

I fool around with a lot of 1960s Fords. All of them are contrary and yes, a couple of them left me walking. That does not keep me from buying Fords in 2021.

The rabbit hole goes even deeper, we have a fleet of Rams and they are all put together extremely cheaply requiring constant maintenance, I suppose you can blame that on FCA but I'm seeing the same old plastic bs from years gone by. Dodge, Chrysler, Ram etc are disposable vehicles that do not hold their value and for good reason, rolling dumpster fires all of them and it breaks my heart because I really love their body styling above all others.
