Hi,
This strikes me as odd and fairly annoying. Apparently Amazon's one or two day shipping and guaranteed arrival have some real restrictions.
I ordered something ( prime) and they told me I would have it on the 25th.When I did a package track later they said that ths container was damaged and that they returned it. I called on the 26th and they said it would be available on the 26th ( nope!) or 27th. Today I got a refund note and did I want to order it again. They also gave me a link to delivery exceptions -- apparently if they get a damaged package they might just send it back and give you a refund.
From the tone of their earlier notes, I expected that they would get a replacement and send it out - I never cancelled the order. Seems that their famous quick delivery has some big loopholes.
Amazon struggles more than we're aware to keep up with their grandiose promises---typically they fulfill those promises but when they screw up it seems pretty huge.
Some of their actions make no sense as they simply act without asking the customer what their choice might be. From my POV that would be a few too many transactions, the problem of an undelivered order being resolved without out unnecessary financial steps.
Its a good outfit for the most part---although they do seem to be allowing more and more poor performing vendors who aren't too carefully monitored. Another Amazon promise that they ALWAYS check up on their vendors isn't true--some have been shut down selling harmful or recalled items yet they pop up again under a new name.
Amazon is also still contracting with the USPS and UPS as well as doing their own deliveries. The hold other ground shippers to a higher standard then they are able to meet on their own and that's why I'm so damned glad that we don't deliver much Amazon anymore like we did. UPS guys hate them too.
On a personal note, I've found Walmart fullfillment to be less expensive and just as reliable as Amazon.
Didn’t know that, but I can understand Amazon’s actions. If you have a vendor flake out or take too long the customer will get irked. So give them their money back and be done with it. Damaged shipping seems like an easy fix and independent of any vendor issues, but maybe not.
Not sure how that’s a loophole. Maybe a bit annoying, but I’m glad they are fast to get my money back.
I find that every time I have had an order not fulfilled on time and was late it is has been a third party vendor on Amazons site. If it is something that ships from an Amazon warehouse I have it most of the time on the 2 day schedule or even before. Now being in the Seattle area I'm a bit closer to a main warehouse.
