I have a 1999 Ford E350 super duty 6.8l V10 that needs a transmission and its been hard to find the right one. I have been searching all over EBay and auto wrecking yards to find one. Is it possible to use a F series 4r100 from a 1999 F250 super duty with the same size motor? It’s all the same with being a 4x2 year and motor size.
There is one possible complication. The F-Series had an early and late 1999 model year. I don't think the E-Series did that. The way to make sure you get on that works is to check the sensors on top of the transmission. As long as both have two sensors or both have one sensor you'll be fine.

What I have found after looking into it more is the tail shaft has a VSS senor that looks like it came from a E4OD that sits on the drivers side of the tail shaft. There is a plug that has been covered up on the top.
Here are some photos that might help. With all the research I am at a loss on what is going on here. The transmission identification states it was built in March of 1999. And I thought the E4OD stopped production in 1997 then was transfer to the 4R100.
