My van (2012 e-350 5.4 112k km) is doing a knocking noise when decelerating. Any clue ? It seem to be from transmission. It also doing it on neutral when pushing the gas. I've join a video if that help.
How does it drive and shift with those noises? Are there any DTC's or check engine lights showing? Did this noise happen over time or suddenly?
That does not sound good---but it could be something like metal-to-metal contact due a vibration of loose parts, perhaps in the exhaust system. If you can replicate this sound while in Park crawl under the van with someone in the drivers seat to accelerate the engine while you're looking for where the sound originates.
If its not that it could be something very serious with the engine or transmission, my guessing being more engine related. I sincerely hope its nothing serious or costly.
Hi, it drive very well. I drove 10000miles pulling a trailer across us and canada and it shift well. I just need to keep the engine pulling to avoid that noise. Now I know more or to reproduce the noise. I need to disable the overdrive or let it on 1st gear. I will try to visit a mechanic next week but yes is seem to be a metal on metal noise. From what I ear the noise is between the transmission and the engine.
