OK super weird on the first post the text disappeared.
Got it test fit so I could locate and drill the holes in the defrost vents.
Long story short. Does anyone know if the dash pad uses clips on the dash pad to attache the dash to the pad? For the life of me I cannot remember. Would make sense. The new pad is thick and will be fun to put clips on. Does anyone have a link or a part number for those nut clips?

I don't see that style in the Disco catalog. Have a jy you can pull them from? You'll likely want it installed before I can get back to the jy but they'd ship easy.
Also - while a non 'stop' style would work, I'd try to stick with the original so you don't end up tightening it too much and stressing the plastic dash.
my junk yard is stripped clean of any of these trucks. I'll keep an eye out and see what I can find. Was thinking of grabbing some U nuts and trying to make them work but they probably won't be big enough to fit over the dash pad. The new dashpad is made on ford tooling but where these clips go seems thicker. Ill get some pictures when I get home.
I don't know why I didnt keep mine, I probably broke them or they were half rusted apart.

I may be reading this wrong. Are you talking about putting the clips(speed nuts) on the pad itself? I'm under the impression the clips go on the main dash to receive the screw that go into the dash pad. That's how the back is. It's been long enough I'm not sure about the front. Will have to look back at my pictures.

The metal behind the dash has clips on it that the dash face screws too. Then there are clips by the defrost vents. In that case it is screw>Dash pad>Vent clip. On the side closest to the seat above the glove box, radio, and steering wheel the clips look to go right on the pad. so you get Screw>Dash>Dashpad clip.

That seems right, didn't have any close-up dashpad photos to look at. I just can't wrap my head around how the clips attached to the dashpad.
When I get to that point I hope I have enough between the 2 trucks.
Parts truck was pulled apart b4 I got it and the other was a mess and stuff missing.
I also need to fix the tabs them clips go on.
