When I bought my 1972 F250 it didn't have the molded dash pad, it was just the metal dash with the defroster vents screwed down to the metal dash. I just recently went to U pull U pay and found a decent dash pad. My
question is how do the defrost vents hook up to the dash pad? I saw a thread that stated to make sure you pull out your defrost vents prior to throwing out a non usable dash, so I'm not sure if the metal vent piece fits into the molded dash somehow? The dash pad I bought didn't have the vents installed. Any help explaining how to set these up would be appreciated!!
There's hoses that run from the top of the heater box to the defrost vents that are molded into the dash pad. The dash cut out Might not be there now since someone got rid of the pad When you remove the pad you can get the vents out of it and they will screw into the top of the dash. Here's the top how it should look. http://s12.photobucket.com/user/dark...g.html?src=wap
Thanks crazed87bronco for the response! Is the metal vent for the defrost molded up into the dash where the square hole is for the defrost air comes out or is it molded to the bottom of the dash pad where the square hole is located? If it is molded into the dash do you try putting the metal vent back into the square hole, glue it to the bottom of the dash pad, or just screw it down to the dash? I would think that it helps keep the center of the dash pad attached better if it is molded into the dash pad or attached to the bottom of the pad. Do new pad's from say LMC come with the metal pad molded into the dash? Thanks, Bruce
