Multiple Small questions! (bed liners, shifter linkage, selector correction)
My truck bed is in really good shape for it's age (few dings, minimal surface rust, no holes) and I'd like to get a liner for it. Any tips on professional vs retail? Things to look for in a good liner? Spray in vs drop in? I'm not particularly looking to change how the truck looks, I just want a durable liner to keep protecting the bed from further issues and possibly add some long term value.
Second, I made a post a couple days ago about my ignition sticking when turning the truck off from running. I'm beginning to think it has something to do with the shifter (it's an automatic) not being perfectly lined up when it's in "park". Is that something pretty simple to tighten up? Any quick resources you guys can show me?
Last, the gear selector on the gauges is just absolutely slammed to the far right on the cluster (the PRND321 gauge) any resources on fixing that real quick?
I know a lot of this is pretty simple stuff I could google but half the time I get the wrong year when I search and my google-fu is pretty good so anything you guys can help me with will be appreciated. Also, sorry for any improper terminology, I've got a head cold and a bad case of brain farts.
Thanks guys!
Sounds like the little cable that moves the needle is either broken or just disconnected. Pull the kick panel under the steering wheel and look up at your steering column. You are looking for a thin white plastic tube that has the cable inside of it.
I recommend you get a factory Ford manual for your truck, it will cover this plus the shift linkage adjustment.
I got my liner for free, and the bed itself sags 2-3 inches between the cross supports from heavy loads in the past, so the drop in liner gives me a relatively flat bed floor.
