I just started hearing this whining sound coming from the front of my truck a week ago and it only lasted a second or two.. A few days ago I was driving and i did it a couple times, I thought it was coming from my left side tire but then we had the windows down and it seemed it was coming from both sides...So last night I went for a ride with windows open with air off, all the other times I believe the air was on. So I go to the store and no noise like a whine a high pitch whine but not a squeal like a belt...it is crazy because I thought a wheel bearing but its 4x4 and maybe something from both side or is it coming from Engine....Please help if you have any input...Thank you all!!!

Was the $690 job with a Timken bearing assembly? There are lots of cheaper unit bearings around and cheaper doesn't just refer to their price.
