Anyone replaced the blower motor resister? 1977 f250 simple version (defrost and heat, not hi-lo).
My blower motor works when powered, so I am replacing the resister. I see where the wire plugs in, and it looks like two rivets instead of screws to remove it
do I remove the blower motor and get to it from the inside of the housing?
or are those rivets really something else that can be removed somehow?
I’m running a couple things down but when I unplugged the wire from the blower resister, I touched the blades and they were loose , so I was starting there.
I’ll be tracing more wires tonight and I’ll se if I can power the switch to see if it works
it could definitely be bad, BUT when the fan speed switch is in the high position, it bypasses the blower motor resistor...so if your fan doesn't work on High, there are other issues besides the resistor...
Fuse looked good but was bad at the cap so replacing that gave me high speed now. Ordered the resister, we’ll see if it is what it is supposed to be when it shows up
The rivet is plastic sometimes. It should have very small seam on the side of the head. Pry the top of the head up from the body of the rivet. Should come up an 1/8 inch. Rivet should pull out with a little wiggeling. They are reusable. On the order of this.
