Blower Motor Problems

I've replaced the 'blower motor resistor' more than once. They only last a few hours before blowing. Friends say my blower motor is the real problem, even though I don't blow the circuit fuse. After replacing the blower motor resistor, everything seems to be fine....but only for a while. Then....poof....the blower only runs at high speed with the resister pack blown.

Should I remove the blower motor and replace, or is there a good way to check the condition of the blower motor without removing and why this resistor pack blows?

I wonder if the motor is shot and trying to pull too many amps. I don't know.

Blower Motor Resistor

I pulled the blower motor. It appears to be bad....not spinning as freeling as new motors. Suspect it is pulling excessive amps at low speed, while still not blowing a fuse. Ordered a new one. Will install today. Should be ok.

Where is the blower motor resistor?

Blower Motor Resistor

The resistor is in the air flow fan housing.

I replace the blower motor. It seems to be working ok now. Apparently the blower motor was drawing excessive amps at low speed.
