Hi i have a 1977 f250 that i believe is a highboy and it was rolled and the cab was swapped with a 1978 f100 cab and i want to swap the title to the original vin does anyone know where i could maybe find the original vin on the frame
Unless you have the cab off or are doing passenger side floor pan replacement the one sort of inline and under the passenger side seat area (but on TOP of the frame rail) is almost impossible to get to. Once you hopefully locate the eng compartment one, wire brush the heck out of it. Then use a fine point scribe or pic and clean out the stamping. Make sure you are in the stamped groove, before you put the pressure to it. Spray break cleaner does wonders to the grease there. Also a flat block light sanding of the area helps. One located and cleaned, spray some primer or white paint and let dry, or use a welding pencil to mark it and then flat block sand again. The VIN should almost jump out at you.
