got a code that popped up anyone else had it? whos fixed it? what did you do? trucks got 90k and drives great seems like it has a stumble every now and then but not sure if its motor wise or trans wise
beats me shop was sayin converters without even checkin anything and lucky for me their not covered under warranty thats a whole lotta money just to throw at a maybe the issue
It seems like very low miles for a converter to burn out, unless your truck has been having misfire issues for a while.
i dont think so i bought it last october so who knows what happened in the last 6 years up to that point but its running really well for me the stumble i have every now and then is i think the trans figuring out which gear it wants
The shops going to tell you anything for money....
I had it, i replaced both O2 sensors and it went away. Start there. You can do it yourself if you have an O2 sensor socket. WARNING: Mine were heavy seized on. Took every amount of patience, tools an strength to get them off. The new ones came with Anti-sieze on the threads.
ill try o2 sensors cant hurt. light comes and goes anyways
O2 sensors rarely cause catalyst efficiency codes although they can lead to their failure. Usually, its a ruined cat (NOT "burned out") that was damaged due to failure to address something else, usually a misfire, that dumped too much raw fuel into the exhaust.
You REALLY need to use a scanner to compare the upstream vs downstream traces to see if the cat is functioning or not. It's pretty obvious when the cat has failed.
Anyone know what size o2 sensor socket is needed for the 6.2?
Btw Would it be the same for the triton V10?
Yep, like SHO said just a standard 7/8"
If touching the downstream sensor(s) -- which are actually in the cat -- don't lever them too much. You WILL just twist the bung out of the cat. Heat it up then try again. Even MAPP gas might get you there, just don't melt the wiring.
If the bung comes out, life gets more complicated quickly.
