What kind of difficulty would I be looking at if I wanted to install a set of these lights on a cab that did not have them originally? Is there a harness for these lights in the roof somewhere? If not, I'm guessing that the windshield pillars are hollow for wire routing?
Anyone add lights to their cab? How did you do it?
The add-on harness connects to a single brown wire/gray connector down by the parking brake pedal, up through the A pillar to where the lights mount, the lamps ground to the sheet metal body.
There have been some good threads on this in years past if you want to search for them, though it's iffy if the pictures will still be there.
Brad has a good write up on them and it's really not bad getting them installed - although mine is a super cab so there is easy access with the headliner out..
Easy enough to make your own harness if you can't find any at a jy.
The body shop drilled the holes for mine not long ago before paint. We used threaded inserts and I would recommend that over the clips or sheet metal screws.
Also, if you go with an original jy harness by this time the tabs that hold the bulb socket into the enclosure with be brittle or gone. I cut the socket off mine and then joined them to the new socket that will come with the light.
