The on /off switch does not work on my 2001 F150. I have replaced the column shifter with a new Ford unit. Old unit had frayed wire. Switch still does not function with new unit.Column light does nothing. No blown fuse #29. Transmission shifts as it should through all 4 . No codes. Is there something else concerning the transmission that could be my problem ?
The switch operates two functions.
1. Sends the signal to the PCM to 'inhibit' OD to the transmission. Set to off will auto reset 'On' the next time the engine is started.
2. The light in the switch is powered from fuse 29 ...and is used by the PCM to flash when there is a fault.
The ight is just built into the switch for these functions.
There is no code for this switch malfunction but may be if other systems are not being powered by fuse 29..
If the lamp does not light, do you still have the Belt alarm? If yes, the OD wiring is in fault. If no, fuse 29 power is not getting there or to the Belt minder circuit.
Good luck..
When I put key in ignition I get audible alarm, which I assume is seatbelt alarm. Correct me if wrong. When ignition is switched on seatbelt reminder light in dash is on, when seatbelt is connected light goes out
Key in ignition and alarm sound is NOT the seat belt alarm.
Seat belt light going off at buckle up is correct. If drive off with seat belt red light on, it should then sound a different alarm and flash the dash lamp after a short time and keep repeating..
I am not recommending it but the seat belt alarm will be cancelled just by pushing the seat belt Latch once after starting..
