In Cab Fuel Sending Unit
Chasing down some fuel delivery gremlins and looking at the fuel sending unit for my 76'F250 in cab tank. Is it actually 'sending' anything other than the amount of fuel to the fuel gauge ? Looking at pictures it dosent appear to have anything to do with the fuel being released from the tank and onto the mechanical pump...Looks just like the float and electrical connection ?

In-cab fuel tank sending unit does not contain the pickup tube. It's located on the tank itself.
Pickup tube comes out of the top of the tank, routes along the left side, then down to the floor, thru a hole in the cab, then to the fuel pump.

The mid-ship and aft axle fuel tank senders have a plastic meshed filter screen aka "sock" on the pickup tube.
All the cars, Bronco's and Econoline senders have this too. The "service part replacement" senders from 1957 thru 1979 also have it.
