Idle Mixture Screws
What is the beginning setting for the idle mixture screws on a 1953 8BA Holley 94 carb? Is fully closed then back off one turn a reasonable beginning?

I thought it was 1-1/4 turns out. Let me rephrase that. I use 1-1/4 turns out for just about all carbs, then go with the vacuum gauge.

That oughtta work. Far enough out (richer) so engine will start, and idle, so idle mixture can be set is all that's going on.

Thanks. Sounds like a good place to start, followed by fine tuning with a vacuum gage.
