Third seat conversion on Explorer

I am shopping for a used Explorer. Probably a 202 or so. My wife is attached to the third seat. Is it possible/feasable to add on to a non third seat truck? We have found a 2002 XLT with 14k miles on it for 18,500. It does not have the third seat. Thanks,

Rob

Can't disagree that's probably a good price. Just so you know, I just bought a new 03 XLT 4X4 - only option is the $45 roof rails. No tow package, just class II, no third seat or aux AC.

Anyway, with all the cash back and a large amount of dealer discount, I was close to $10,000 off a 31,000 sticker. So, even if you add some in for the 3rd seat and aux AC, I don't know, maybe new?

Well, I should pick my new ('03) Explorer up tomorrow. It is a white 2wd XLT. It has 3rd seat, rear air, and alot of options. I got it for $98 over invoice at Ravenel Ford in Ravenel SC. With the $4000 rebate, it is 24,993. Sticker was around $31k. So, I am happy and my wife is very happy. It is our first new family ride. We had to wait until we had kids, seven years for her at home with them, and now back to work again. It is her car and I hope that she enjoys it.

Anything is possible. Things off the top of my head that you would require:
1) Third row seat (Obvious)
2) Rear carpet
3) Cargo covers for thrid row seat configuration
4) Not sure about floor pan, but at the very least you'll need to reinforce the sheet metal where the 3rd row seat fits in.

Other thatn that, you should be good to go.

Cool Third row seat option

I put a third row seat in that I purchased from the internet. If you search yahoo for third row seats, several options come up. The one I bought was excellent, they built it to match my interior and installation was a breeze. Only required minor modifications to my explorer - mainly drilling a set of new mounting holes.

I agree with Nomad, I purchased one and installed it myself, I bought mine from ebay, and they also included everything you need to intall your 3rd row seat.
