I have a 2002 2wd 4 door XLS w/5sp manual tranny. It does not have the factory third row seating. I have been searching salvage yards for explorers with third row seating to see if it would be possible to install them in mine. No luck yet. Has anyone here installed a set of third row seats when their explorer didn't come factory with it???
Any help with this would be appreciated.
I don't think the rear floor pans are the same. My '02 didn't have the seat, my '04 does and IIRC the floors were different. Also, the 2nd row seats (40/20/40) "tumble" forward to allow access and the shoulder belts are in the rear trim panels. Finding all that in the right color and in good condition at a reasonable price might be tough.
I am still waiting to find one in the local salvage yard. If I can find one complete I will be attempting it. It's got to be cheaper then buying another vehicle.
