A 1/2 ton truck won't have a BW-1345 in it, unless someone has swapped it. it is a direct swap, except for the fixed rear yoke, with you could probably use the driveshaft from the f-250. Those were only for 3/4 and up from 80-86.
Is the BW1345 a stronger t-case than the NP208? I have one of both, the NP208/ NP435 is currently in my 84 F150. I just recently picked up a T-18 with a 1345 t-case behind it, it came out of a 1980 F250.
In theory, it should be. I like the bw1345 over my np208 because it has a solid fixed yoke in the back instead of a slip joint. Also, I think the BW has a magnesium case, which is a good bit stronger than the aluminum np208.
the only problem with the bw1345 is sometimes the pump in the tcase will break and quit pumping fluid, in turn, turning your tcase into a big paperweight.
Not all of the NP 208's are slip yoke output, I have a fixed yoke output 208, out of an 82 F150 with a 351W and C6.
However, the 1345 is probably stronger, it's what Ford put in all the over 8500# GVWR trucks, my 460 was backed by one from the factory.
Make sure you have a haines manual or something similar. I know the Haines has the blow up of the BW1345. It looks a little easier than a tranny.. Four Wheeler has had articles on rebuilding a NP205 or something, and they made it looks fairly easy..
btw, if you are rebuilding the BW1345, I believe ford has a repair kit to fix the ATF pump in the back. It was a TSB or something.
